Wildlife Recording

Welcome
Our aim is to make information about the wildlife of the Outer Hebrides accessible to everyone and encourage residents and visitors to take part in biological recording activities.
This site provides all the information you need to take part in surveys and submit your records.
Our main activity is collating records and maintaining a database of information on our flora and fauna; we also offer support, training opportunities and encouragement to our recorders and work to promote an interest in biodiversity.

Keep up to date with the latest sightings on the Wildlife News and Information Forum

Projects and Surveys

We know very little about the animals and plants which are found in the islands and their distribution, so all the records we recieve, even of very common species are important.
You don't have to be a scientist to take part and we provide training to anyone who wants to become a biological recorder.
Visit our Recording Section to discover how you can take part. You can also see our keep up-to-date with the latest reports of species added to the Outer Hebrides list and our target species in the Surveys Section.
