We know very little about the distribution of the animals, plants and fungi which are found in the islands of the Outer Hebrides so all the records we receive, even of very common species, are important. You don't have to be a scientist, you can help us conserve our natural heritage and maintain the quality and biodiversity of our landscape.
Providing the base-line data to help land managers, crofters, planners and businesses make informed decisions about how our natural environment is managed
Providing information for schools, researchers and visitors about our wildlife
Promoting an interest in biodiversity and biological recording
Providing encouragement, support and training for recorders
Maintaining a database of biological records to provide the information required to aid the identification and management of areas of conservation importance and to monitor wildlife distribution and population changes
